  • 9 1/2 inches wide x 10 inches tall also called 5 columns x 10 inches.*
  • 11 1/2 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall also called 6 columns x 3 1/2 inches.*
* This ad size is too big to fit on a regular sheet of paper, so a template does not exist. Students will have to create their oun template on a large sheet of plain white paper. Draw a border (please measure carefully). Then create your winning ad inside the border!

Student Instructions and Assignments

This year there are 12 advertisers who purchased advertising space in the Design An Ad special section that will appear in The Sacramento Bee on March 27, 2008. The space that was purchased is being turned over to young, inexperienced designers in grades 4-12. The designs have to be returned to The Bee by February 8, 2008. The winning designs will appear in the Design An Ad special section. Each advertiser has a different set of requirements. Those instructions and requirements are explained on the student instruction sheets. (read more)
