News10 and The Sacramento Bee are pleased to announce the return of Weather Wizard. This special Newspaper in Education (N.I.E.) project is designed to help students understand Sacramento-area weather while using the newspaper. This year's theme is "climate change."
Enrolling teachers will receive:
- Student supplements. We'll provided a class set of the Weather Wizard student supplement that explains how weather happens in our region. The supplements will be delivered with your newspapers on September 25, 2007.
- Teaching materials. You'll receive access to the online teacher's guide to help you plan this unit. We'll provide a wall map and weather tracking chart for your bulletin board, so your students follow and record weather systems as they move across the country.
- A special N.I.E. subscription to The Sacramento Bee. A class set of newspapers will be delivered to your school each Tuesday beginning September 25, 2007. You and your students can follow News10's weekly weather column, written by meteorologist Monica Woods, appearing every Tuesday in The Bee. Your subscription will end on May 20, 2008.
- An invitation to the teacher workshop at News10. You may attend the teacher workshop where a News10 meteorologist will be on hand to answer your weather-related questions. The workshop is scheduled for September 20, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. More information about the workshop will be included with your confirmation letter.
Be sure to look for Monica Wood's Weather Notebook column in The Sacramento Bee every Tuesday on the weather page. It features even more educational and interesting information about our weather.
