Welcome to N.I.E.

The Sacramento Bee's Newspaper in Education (N.I.E.) program promotes literacy, connects students to their community and world, and provides teachers with a powerful educational tool, the daily newspaper. The educational services provided by The Bee are available to teachers at no cost. N.I.E. can make a difference in your classroom.

Summer N.I.E. Subscription

We are now taking orders for the Summer N.I.E. program. This resource will allow access to The Bee over the summer months, and is useful for those teaching summer school classes. (read more)

Online Lessons

Each week The Bee publishes a new online lesson for teachers, students and families who use the Internet and newspaper as learning resources. The lessons are tied to current events in the news and help learners extend their knowledge on a wide range of topics. This week's lesson is called "Muscling Out the Competition," a science and health lesson for grades 3-5. (read more)
