California Central Valley Spelling Bee
Each Spring, the California Central Valley Spelling Bee recognizes the strongest spellers in Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties. Students who excel in three preliminary rounds will represent the Central Valley in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Schools within The Bee's home delivery area can raise money for their school by selling new subscriptions to The Bee. The school will earn money for each new order sold. For more information, please call (916) 321-1690.
Tours of The Bee's facility at 21st and Q Streets in Sacramento are offered year-round on a weekly basis to local schools and civic organizations. The one-hour tour offers a glimpse into the history of The Bee as well as an up-close look at how the daily paper is put together. Minimum age to participate in the tour is eight.
