Guide to The Bee

The Bee Book Club

Published: Monday, Dec. 15, 2008
Updated: Monday, Jun. 25, 2012 - 2:52 pm

The Bee Book Club is not your average book club...besides encouraging you to pick up a good book, The Bee Book Club brings the authors to Sacramento, and gives you the chance to hear what they have to say, get your questions answered, and get your book signed.

The Bee Book Club events begin at 6 p.m. and are held at various venues throughout the region. The Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I Street, in Sacramento, is our primary meeting place, unless otherwise noted. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and seating is on a first-come basis. For more information or for special needs, call (916) 321-1880.

  • About the club

Like to read? That's the only requirement you need to join The Bee Book Club.

No membership card. No fees. No lifetime commitment. Sound like a good deal? Here's how we operate:

Approximately six to eight times a year, we'll choose a book. We'll announce it in the Living Here section of The Sacramento Bee and right here on sacbee.com. We'll publish information about the author and other goodies that might pique your interest.

Then it's your turn. Pick up the selection at one of the many participating book stores -- they'll give you a 30 percent discount on the current Club choice when you tell them you're a member -- and give it a read. Then go and meet the author, get an autograph, go home happy.

Let's review: You get a new book at a nice discount and the opportunity to meet its writer. All free of membership and admission fees. Think there's a catch? None, we promise. Hey, we love books too.

These bookstores will offer a 30 percent discount on the book: Borders, Borders Express, Barnes & Noble, East-West Bookstore, Underground Books, the Avid Reader at Tower in Sacramento, the Avid Reader in Davis, Time Tested Books, the Hornet Bookstore, the UC Davis Bookstore and the Next Chapter in Woodland.
