June 17: Bee Book Club featuring Abraham Verghese
Borders Books, 2339 Fair Oaks Boulevard, 6 p.m.The Bee Book Club resumes the 2010 season with doctor and novelist Abraham Verghese, who will discuss his book, "Cutting for Stone." He will give a presentation, answer questions from the audience and sign books. The event is free and open to the public. It begins at 6 p.m. and seating is first-come, first-seated. July 22: Bee Book Club featuring Lisa Gardner

Aug. 26: Bee Book Club featuring Barry Eisler
Quarry Ponds Center, 5550 Douglas, Blvd, Granite Bay, 6 p.m.Join the Bee Book Club as we go on the road for Barry Eisler's gathering at Quarry Ponds. This outdoor event promises to be breezy and beautiful. Eisler is the international thrill writer who's latest book is "Inside Out." Sept. 18: Bee Book Club presents Cindy Pawlcyn
The Pavillions Center on Fair Oaks Blvd.Renowned chef and restaurant owner is The Bee Book Club's featured author for this special Saturday event. Pawlcyn, owner of three Napa Valley Restaurants: "Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen," "Go Fish" and "Mustards Grill" will discuss her book "Appetizers" in the beautiful outdoor setting of The Pavillions. June 22: "Paying for Content"
The Sacramento Bee, 2100 Q St., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.Join the The Sacramento Bee and The Sacramento Press forum discussing the future of on-lin content. Six panelists from local media will debate the issue, which will be moderated by free-lance journalist J.T. Long. The panel will focus on paywalls and the relationshop between the consumer and the news organization. Aug. 28: Race for the Arts in Land Park
William Land Park, 3800 S. Land Park Dr., 8:30 a.m.This 12th annual race benefits nonprofit performing, cultural and visual arts organizations and school sponsored art, music and drama programs. The event features a 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m. and kids fun-runs that begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $25 for adults; $12 for kids, 12 and under by Aug. 11.
